Meeting Owl 3: Troubleshooting

Meeting Owl 3: Troubleshooting

Audio is cutting out over Zoom:
  • Within Zoom, verify the audio devices being used by clicking the carrot button next to the Mute button

  • Make sure the Echo Cancelling Owl option is selected as a microphone
    • Note the Speaker should be the same option as well

Owl video does not focus on the active participant:

The Owl learns where people are sitting in the room. If a new person sits at the table or moves to another location, it may take up to 5 seconds for the video to switch.

If a person is a primary person talking during the meeting such as a lecture, enable Presenter Enhance by
  • Pressing the button on the Owl itself Owl_Button.png
    • To disable, press again
  • Meeting Owl App

Ensure the following is true:
  • If your group is larger than 6-8 people or are in a large room, consider using more than one Owl or move the device(s) closer to the participants.
  • Make sure the owl is updated to the latest software version
    • To do so, open the mobile application Meeting Owl with your Owl powered on, click on the Owl > An update window should pop up at the top of the screen > Proceed to update
      • Updates can take upwards of 15 minutes, prepare accordingly.
  • Set up an Ignore Zone on the Owl's video to block any zones of an area for the camera not to focus on
  • Participants are sitting at a maximum of 9 feet to the Meeting Owl 3
  • Speakers are directing voices towards the device that are loud and clear
    • Note that masks can muffle sound and affect speaker spotlight performance.
If above conditions are met:
  • Reverb can cause lag in performance. Reverb is a sound after a sound is produced, like a hall or cave.
    • Move into a room without many hard surfaces
  • Enable noise suppression in the Meeting Owl app:
    • Go into settings when tapping on your nearby device
    • Audio settings
    • Under noise reduction, select Low. If the background noise persists, repeat steps and select High
