How to Use Breakout Rooms



Breakout rooms can be used during meetings to create separate sessions in smaller groups. This feature can be used to create up to 50 different groups with up to 200 participants.  
 
  1. 1. In your Zoom profile, select the "Settings" option from the column on the left hand side of the page and scroll down to the In Meeting (Advanced) section. Enable the Breakout Room option. 


 

  1. 2. While in a meeting, select the Breakout Rooms option in the menu bar at the bottom of your screen. 



  1. 3. Create Breakout Rooms window appears. Select whether you want to manually assign participants, have then automatically assigned, or allow them to choose. Choose the number of room and the number of participants that will be going into each room. 


 


 

Managing Breakout Rooms 


Manually Assign:

 Select the breakout room and click-on Assign. Select the checkbox next to the names that you would like to add to the room. 



 


 Move To & Exchange: 

Once breakout rooms have been created. You can choose to move a participant from one room to another, or to exchange with a different participant in a different room.  






Ask for Help: 

While in their separate breakout rooms, participants can request for help from the host by sending a request for the host to join their breakout room.  
 
  1. 1. Select Ask for Help in the menu bar at the bottom of your screen.  


  1. 2. Host will receive notification alerting that someone asked for help and can choose to join.  



 

Stop All Sessions: 

Host can decide when to end all of the breakout rooms by selecting Stop All Sessions.
