Connecting to the Conference System (Camera & Microphone)

The following instructions can be applied to any conferencing software and equipment.
Make sure to turn on all the equipment prior to performing these steps. For the Academy training and conference rooms you will need to turn on the microphone system labeled Octopus. Please make sure to turn it off when done with your conference.
To encourage a successful conference call, always make sure to TEST your audio and video setting prior to starting any call.
  1. Open the application (ex. Google Hangouts, Zoom, SkyPE, ooZoo, Adobe Connection, Uber Conference...)
  2. Go to Setting, Options, or Preferences
  3. Click on any word or picture relating to Video. See samples below.
  4. Set the Video option to the name, typically the name of the manufacture, of your camera.
  5. Click on any word or picture relating to Audio. See samples below.
  6. Set the Audio options to the name, typically the name of the manufacture, of your microphone and speakers. If you see "Default" try that first.

Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing audio or video issues during a video call it is typically due to network issues or misconfigurations:

  • Make sure the television, projector, and computer are on.

  • Make sure the webcam and microphone are plugged in and turned on.

  • Make sure that the microphone and webcam are not being used by another application.

  • To encourage a successful conference call, always make sure to TEST your audio and video setting prior to starting any call.
